1. Bangkok
Stay
About the destination: Bangkok, one of Asia’s most cosmopolitan cities, is the capital of Thailand. Bangkok is hot and crowded, but it's fairly clean and offers lots of fun things to do. Bangkok has great shopping, plenty of culture, amazing temples, delicious food and a decent art scene. Most of Bangkok's sights are concentrated on the island of Rattanakosin, often referred to as the Old City. The Grand Palace is the absolute must see site. The Grand Palace complex also houses the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Wat Phra Keow, the most sacred Buddhist temple. Other famous temples in Bangkok are the Wat Pho and Wat Arun temples. Bangkok is a great place for shopping. There are many shops, shopping centers and markets to satisfy every wish. The nightlife scene in Bangkok is as varied as the city itself, from beer bars to exclusive clubs, night shopping markets, discos to hippie parties. Bangkok is a large sprawling metropolis, noisy and crowded yet peaceful and delicate. It is one of the world’s top destinations that one has to visit at least once in life.

2. Chumphon
Stay
About the destination: With 200 kilometers of coastline, Chumphon features many beautiful and desolate beaches as well as some of the best diving and snorkeling on the gulf coast. Chumphon province is located half way down the Isthmus of Kra, the narrow body of land flanked by Andaman Sea on the west and the Gulf of Thailand on the East; western Chumphon borders Myanmar, while the east of the province consist of more than 200 kilometers of coastline with numerous beaches that are infrequently visited by tourists. Consequently, Chumphon is an ideal destination for those who are seeking relaxation in a natural and quiet atmosphere. Chumphon city, the capital of the province, is the gateway to other southern provinces as well as the islands in the Gulf of Thailand, particularly Koh Tao. While the area isn’t overrun with tourists there are still many opportunities for sunbathing, swimming, yachting, paragliding, diving, and snorkeling. Historical documents state that Chumphon was continuously inhabited by various communities since the pre-historic period, especially in the area along the banks of the Tha Taphao River. Chumphon was also one of the leading trading centers of Siam (Thailand prior to the Second World War). As a frontier city, Chumphon is believed to have derived its name from Chumnumphon, which means the accumulation of forces. Whenever there were movements of the army, the soldiers would gather their forces here in this province. Other sources argue that the name is derived from a local plant named Maduea Chumphon, which is abundant in this area. This plant has become a symbol of Chumphon Province. Chumphon city, the capital of Chumphon province, is the gateway to Thailand’s southern provinces as well as the islands in the Gulf of Thailand, particularly Koh Tao. With more than 200 kilometers of coastline featuring numerous unspoiled beaches, Chumphon is an ideal destination for those who are seeking relaxation in a natural and quiet atmosphere and wish to enjoy such activities as sunbathing, swimming, yachting, paragliding, diving, and snorkeling.

3. Koh Tao
Stay
About the destination: The small island of Koh Tao is located just north of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan, and can be easily reached via a public ferry crossing. Flights to Koh Samui are available from Bangkok, Chiang Mai, U-Thapao / Pattaya, Phuket, Krabi, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Hong Kong. Depending on the timetable, you may need an overnight stay on Koh Samui (transfer details can be found at the respective hotel). Koh Tao is considered an Eldorado for divers and snorkelers due to the clear water and the diversified underwater world. But also individualists, "island collectors" and beach enthusiasts have written themselves Koh Tao on their flag. The island of Nang Yuan, on the northwest tip of Koh Tao, is a busy excursion, but Koh Tao itself is spared. A fortified road leads from the Mae Haad Bay main ferry to the south to Chalok Baan Kao, to the north it ends in Sairee (other bays can be quite adventurous, prefer a longtail boat). In Mae Haad, the island's capital, there is a considerable number of restaurants, hang-out spots, mini-bars and shops. The service in the hotels is not quite on the booth of Koh Samui, which is often Burmese staff but very friendly. The main event is short and violent, falling into the months of November and December (not recommended).

5. North Koh Samui Island
Stay
About the destination: Ko Samui is an island off the east coast of the Kra Isthmus, Thailand. Ko Samui is Thailand's second-largest island after Phuket. Abundant tour - Bophut Beach. In the north of the island, is a popular starting point for diving tours. Bophut is one of the few places on Samui that retains some of the island's original Thai-Chinese atmosphere. It has recently experiencing a boom with new hotels and guesthouses sprouting up at a frantic pace. The traditional core of Bophut, known as the Fisherman's Village, is a charming village on the east side of the beach while the new developments are to the west. In contrast to Chaweng there has been a conscious effort to dissuade the more commercial elements of Thai night life from setting up shop and instead aiming for couples and young families. The beach road retains much of its charm although the new construction took a bit away. Old Chinese shop-houses crowd the narrow street many with sympathetic conversions to modern use as restaurants and cafés and small trendy shops. The beach itself encompasses some 2 km of white sandy shoreline fringed by coconut palms and the calm waters of the bay make this a popular spot for playing or relaxing, rather than swimming, because the water here is often murky, especially around December. - Na Mueang Waterfall. Purple rocks surround the stream of water, which gushes in from an impressive height of around 79 m. Mae Nam is known for it's 7 km stretch of beach. The beach has white sand and is lined by coconut trees. The sea is typically calm, however there is a moderate drift and the water is not usually clear. Mae Nam actually means river, 'mae' meaning mother and 'nam' water.
